ORDER OF THE ARROW SASHES

"Long years ago in the dim ages of the past..."

Welcome to WWW.OATRADITIONS.COM.  This website features OA Sash replicas with designs based on the historic past of the Order.  Our belief is that there is a place in the OA at conclaves and with ceremonial teams to wear sashes that reach back to the roots of the Brotherhood of Cheerful Service.  That is the genesis for this venture and for the four basic sashes: the ceremonial team members. The Vigil sashes are replicas of various types of  Vigil sashes worn in the 1930s-1940s.

The sashes displayed in the thumbnails below are for sale.  The sashes are made of premium wool felt.  The Vigil sashes have embroidered arrows on the felt triangle.  These are historic sash designs.  Great for ceremonial teams or for conclave wear.

THEY ARE NOT THE ORIGINAL SASHES.

However, the workmanship is beautiful.  These sashes are either directly modeled after existing sashes or from accounts of early members.  They are professionally made in the USA.

This is a GREAT website with the History of the OA Sash:

http://www.oasections.com/articles/oa_sash_history.html

A grandfather told his grandson that there is a battle between
two wolves that live within you. One wolf is evil and has anger, envy, sorrow,
regrets, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies,
superiority, and ego.
The other wolf is good and has joy, peace, love, hope, serenity,
humility, kindness,  empathy, generosity, faith, courage, honor and integrity.
The grandson asked his grandfather, "Which one wins"?
The old grandfather simply replied, "The one you feed".

"The order is a thing of spirit rather than of mechanics.  Organization, operational procedures, and all that go with them are necessary in any large and growing movement, but they are not what counts in the end. The things of the spirit are what count:

Brotherhood--in a day when there is too much hatred at home and aboard

Cheerfulness--in a day when the pessimists have the floor and cynics are popular

Service--in a day when millions are interested in getting or grasping, rather then giving"

Dr. E. Urner Goodman, founder of the O.A.

This website has no affiliations with any organization.  The website will grow and the intent is to create a repository for interesting photos of sash collections, ceremonies and documents of OA history.  Five percent of the sales of these sashes is donated to the Order.  The sashes are stamped as replicas to prevent them from being mistaken by collectors as originals.
